You may take the taxi or minibus options on your way from the airport to the city, however you can't prevent stopping by a tourism office no matter what time it is! They will fill you with tour info and will push to sell some!

Accomodation, we stayed in Patong, but I would prefer the south for next time! But, if you are a night life addict stay at somewhere close to Patong Beach!
Beach is far from being beautiful, so we moved to Paradise Beach everyday!
Do not ask direction to taxi drivers, they will lead you wrongly!
Night life is on Bang-La Road and the beach!
